Fight for the reef with Bob Irwin and Australian Marine Conservation Society

Industrial development at Gladstone Harbour

Industrial development at Gladstone Harbour

Last night’s information session was part of Bob Irwin’s speaking tour, supported by the Australian Marine Conservation Society . Lots of people came and it was really informative. The scale of planned industrial developments in the reef is shocking. For the short term gain of exporting coal – the principle cause of carbon dioxide emissions – one of the contributors to destruction of the reef – we will see the reef destroyed forever.

The three c’s – cyclones, coral bleaching and Crown of thorns – all worsened by carbon dioxide emissions and climate change – are the main factors threatening the reef.

Reefwalk forever!

Now even the President of the USA is speaking about climate change.

      Thanks Karen
Yes, the President is catching up with his promises, but much of the USA is leading and already taking action on climate change.
