As we approached the campsite at Inkerman, a couple of walkers were tempted to climb Mt Inkerman. A steep 2km climb was a sharp culmination of a 20km hike. However views from the top made it worthwhile, as we could see the surrounding sugar cane and bush areas, and over the reef. Sadly it appeared that the entire country had been dissected. What was once tropical rainforest was destroyed for sugar cane. Just as we despair as other countries tear down their rainforest for palm plantations, we despair that goodwilled Australians did the same 100 years ago.
