Hi everyone, I know we have missed a few very interesting days to blog about but I am tired and I just could resist blogging about today. Five of us left Louisa Creek this morning, farewelled by our host Betty, headed towards Sarina. Just a few km on Margaret, a local woman we had met the evening before stopped on her way to work (at a nursing home in Sarina) and asked if we could visit the home later that day. We quickly agreed. Further down the road we were stopped by a Lani, a young woman driving past. She said she just wanted to thank us for what we were doing, she had read about the walk in the paper, this unexpected gesture put a bounce in our step.
This afternoon we drove to the nursing home where we were welcomed by about twenty beautiful people. Their ages ranged into the nineties and they were interested in where we came from and what we were doing. We listened to various peoples stories often reminiscing about what they did in their youth. We met in the craft room and were shown some beautiful handiwork, much of which they sell to raise funds for their home.
These unexpected events really make our walk come alive.
